Korea International Medical and Hospital Equipment Show held at COEX during March 14~17
1,403 companies from 36 countries participating…displaying 30,000 cutting-edge medical devices
[의학신문·일간보사=오인규 기자] South Korea’s largest cutting-edge medical device exposition held under the aim of enhancing public health and facilitating medical development, medical and hospital-related industries, the 35th Korea International Medical and Hospital Equipment Show 2019 will be held for four days from March 14th to 17th at COEX in Samseong-dong.
Held under the theme of “Meet the Future” this year’s exposition is participated by a total of 1,403 manufacturers including 695 from Korea as well as 36 countries - 129 from the U.S., 185 from China, 84 from Germany, 53 from Japan, 59 from Taiwan, 23 from Italy, 20 from Switzerland, 17 from UK, 14 from France. They will showcase 30,000 cutting-edge medical devices, hospital installation and medical information system as well as medical-related goods including health care and rehabilitation devices.
South Korea’s Samsung, DK Medical System, Alpion Medical System, Listem, LG Electronics, DRM as well as global companies like Philips and GE Healthcare are among the major firms participating in this year’s exposition.
Moreover, Selvas Healthcare, InBody in the healthcare sector, Bit Computer and UB Care in the medical information sector, Daesung Maref and StraTek in the physiotherapy sector, Won Tech and Lutronic in the laser treatment device sector, CUREXO in the robotic medical device sector and Insung Medical in the medical goods sector will also participate in the exposition.
The organizer of the exposition, Korea E&EX, forecasts that 58,000 Korean buyers and 3,850 buyers from some 80 countries will participate at the event.
It also expects the exposition will contribute greatly to enhancing exports by reaffirming the quality of Korean goods through domestic demand consultation worth some 2.1 trillion KRW and exports consultation worth over 580 million U.S. dollars.
This year, in particular, the event also features “MedicomteK 2019” a medical parts technology exposition, reflecting the increasing interest on cutting-edge parts and materials backed by a wider range of technological development of the medical device sector covering AI, deep learning and robotics science.
Like last year, the Global Medical Equipment Plaza(GMEP 2019) will be held alongside KIMES. Celebrating its 12th anniversary, GMEP is a representative convergence consultation/seminar in the medical and bio sector organized by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency.
260 medical device buyers from 60 countries will participate to carry out special seminar with buyers in global medical device sector, consultations on public procurement and public health project while conferences on entry strategies into North America, Southeast Asia, CIS, Southwestern Asia and Africa will also be held.
Aside from all the above, a key-note speech by Bidur Dhaul, Business Head of Philips ASEAN Pacific Care and Monitoring Systems will be held under the theme of “Smart Patient Care Solutions” at the COEX Conference Center during the exposition, while various symposiums and academic events will be held to promote the development of the medical industry.
During the exposition, KIMES Secretariat will provide free interpretation services at the “Free Interpretation Center for Foreigners” located at the entrance of each hall in order to facilitate communication with foreign buyers, while free shuttle buses will run from Suseo Station(SRT), Seoul/Yongsan Station(KTX) and Songpa Tancheon Public Parking Lot to COEX.
